Taxonomy
Rhinobatos steurbauti was named by Cappetta and Nolf (1981). Its type specimen is RON 35, a tooth, and it is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Pseudobatos steurbauti by De Schutter and Steurbaut (2025).
