Taxonomy
Stockia powayensis was named by Gazin (1958) [type is from "San Diego Mission" according to Gazin 1958 and specifically CIT 249 according to Walsh 1991]. Its type specimen is LACM(CIT) 2234, a mandible (right mandibular fragment with M1-3), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is San Diego Mission (CIT 249), which is in an Uintan terrestrial conglomerate in the Friars Formation of California.
It was recombined as Paromomys powayensis by Krishtalka and Schwartz (1978); it was recombined as Omomys powayensis by Lillegraven (1980) and Walsh (1991); it was synonymized subjectively with Omomys carteri by Westgate (1990).
