Mactra deaurata was named by Turton (1822) [DISTRIBUTION: Pleistocene-Recent; Western Atlantic.]. It is extant.

It was recombined as Mesodesma deaurata by Richards (1962); it was recombined as Mesodesma deauratum by Hendy et al. (2008); it was recombined as Mesodesma (Ceronia) deauratum by Signorelli (2019).
