Dasypus bellus (beautiful armadillo)

Taxonomy
Tatu bellus was named by Simpson (1929). Its type specimen is AMNH 23542, an osteoderm, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Seminole Field, which is in a Pleistocene fluvial sandstone in Florida.

It was recombined as Dasypus bellus by Auffenberg (1957), Kurten and Anderson (1980), Downing and White (1995), Hulbert and Pratt (1998), McDonald and Naples (2007), Rincón et al. (2008).
