Thomomys potomacensis
Taxonomy
Plesiothomomys potomacensis was named by Gidley and Gazin (1933). Its type specimen is USNM 8166, a mandible, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Cumberland Cave, which is in an Irvingtonian cave horizon in Maryland.
It was recombined as Thomomys potomacensis by Kurten and Anderson (1980), Eshelman et al. (2025).
