Liaoxia chenii
Taxonomy
Liaoxia chenii was named by Cao et al. (1998). Its type locality is Jianshangou bed, near Chaomidian, which is in a Barremian/Aptian terrestrial mudstone in the Yixian Formation of China. It is the type species of Liaoxia.

Cao et al. 1998 | Panicle with a peduncle, at least 5.5 cm long and about 2.5 cm wide; rachis relatively stout, about 2 mm wide at the base, oppositely branching 1-2 times at a narrow angle, with longitudinal striations on the surface of rachis and branches, bearing two linear or ligulate bracts below each pair of branches. Spikelets ovate or elongated in outline, 5-10 mm long, solitary and terminal, composed of numerous glumes; glumes helically born upon the axis of spikelet, ovate, with awn-like apex and longitudianal veinlets. |
