Parastrapotherium voghti
Taxonomy
Astrapotherium voghti was named by Mercerat (1891). Its type specimen is MLP 12-122, a mandible, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Carhué (Deseadan), which is in a Deseadan terrestrial horizon in Argentina.
It was synonymized subjectively with Astrapotherium giganteum by Ameghino (1894); it was synonymized subjectively with Astrapotherium magnum by Lydekker (1894); it was synonymized subjectively with Parastrapotherium ephebicum by Ameghino (1894); it was recombined as Parastrapotherium voghti by Kramarz and Bond (2008).
