Parametopaster was named by Breton (1992). It is not extant. Its type is Parametopaster fournieri.

It was assigned to Goniasteridae by Breton (1992), Breton and Néraudeau (2008).

G. Breton 1992	Enlarged distal superomarginal of large size, corresponding with seevral inferomarginals. Raised central area absent of strongly reduced. Dense granule-pits of irregular size almost cover the external face. Pedicellariae-pits ellongated.
