Taxonomy
Inga ionensis was named by MacGinitie (1941). Its type specimen is U.C. Mus. Pal. Paleobot. Ser. hologype no. 2253. Its type locality is UCMP loc. P3320, Buckeye Flat, which is in an Eocene floodplain claystone in California.
