It was assigned to Gymnospermae by Ozaki (1974); to Pinales by Hueber (1983), Meyen (1984); to Pinopsida by Mabberley (2000); and to Coniferales by Knowlton (1919), Hickey (1977), Shoshani et al. (1989), Upchurch et al. (1994), Taylor et al. (2008).
