I info unbekannt. A. steinheimensis.[Large type species of the genus Amphicyon, length of the ml ± 33-36 mm. C relatively slightly curved, its inner edge almost congruent with the anterior edge when viewed from the inside. Outside of C sup. furrowed. II and J2 transversely flattened. J3 considerably stronger, with a pointed, bent-back crown. I info unknown. Pl-3 with extremely low crown (upper slightly higher than lower). Cut diagonally at pl-3. P4 with trace of a front spike. p4 in the Helvetium with a strong tritocon, which weakens to the point of complete loss in chronologically younger forms; At the same time, the front inner corner is narrowed and pulled back slightly. Talonid of the Ml never wider than the protoconid base; the cutting edge of its hypoconid curved in on itself and overlapping both the posterior slope of the protoconid and the entoconid; this flat, but with at least one clear elevation. Ml and M2 usually with emphasized metaconulus. Furrow between protocon and inner cingulum on M2 shallower than in A. steinheimensis.]
