Peneckiella was named by Soshkina (1939) [Sepkoski's age data: D Emsi D Fras-u Sepkoski's reference number: 174,680,1240]. It is not extant. Its type is Diphyphyllum minus.
It was assigned to Phacellophyllinae by Hill (1956); to Rugosa by Sepkoski (2002); and to Phillipsastreidae by Hill (1981), Brownlaw and Jell (2008).
