Anthracotherium pangan

Taxonomy

Anthracotherium pangan was named by Pilgrim and Cotter (1916). Its type specimen is GSI B619, a maxilla (left maxillary fragment with M2-3), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Pakokku District, Pondaung Sandstone, which is in a Bartonian terrestrial sandstone/siliciclastic in the Pondaung Formation of Myanmar. It is the type species of Anthracothema.

It was recombined as Anthracothema pangan by Pilgrim (1928).

Synonyms

Anthracohyus palustris was named by Pilgrim and Cotter (1916). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Pakokku District, Pondaung Sandstone, which is in a Bartonian terrestrial sandstone/siliciclastic in the Pondaung Formation of Myanmar.

It was recombined as Anthracothema palustre by Pilgrim (1928); it was synonymized subjectively with Anthracotherium pangan by Tsubamoto et al. (2002).
