Taxonomy
Cyamiidae was named by Philippi (1845) [m. kosnik taxon no: 5165]. It is extant.

It was assigned to Cyamiacea by Newell (1965) and Vokes (1980); to Galeommatacea by Beu et al. (1990); and to Cyamioidea by Rosenberg (2005), Nevesskaja (2009), Bouchet et al. (2010) and Carter et al. (2011).
