Myochamidae was named by Carpenter (1861) [m. kosnik taxon no: 5061]. It is extant.

It was assigned to Pandoracea by Newell (1965), Vokes (1980); to Anomalodesmata by Bieler and Mikkelsen (2006); to Myochamoidea by Nevesskaja (2009), Bouchet et al. (2010); and to Thracioidea by Carter et al. (2011).
