Taxonomy
Diorocetus hiatus was named by Kellogg (1968). Its type specimen is USNM 16783, a partial skeleton, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Parker Creek, south, Zone 14, which is in a Serravallian foreshore claystone in the Calvert Formation of Maryland.
