Chonecetus tomitai
Taxonomy
Aetiocetus tomitai was named by Barnes et al. (1995) [Ashoro Museum of Japan]. Its type specimen is AMP 2, a partial skull, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Morawan (Middle Hard Shale Member), which is in a Chattian basinal (siliceous) shale in the Morawan Formation of Japan.
It was recombined as Chonecetus tomitai by Peredo and Pyenson (2018).
