Taxonomy
Isanacetus laticephalus was named by Kimura and Ozawa (2002) [Mizunami Fossil Museum
]. Its type specimen is MFM 28501, a skeleton (skull & skeleton), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Oyamada-mura, which is in a Burdigalian marine sandstone in Japan.
It was considered an invalid subgroup of Isanacetus by Bisconti et al. (2013).
