Taxonomy
Aporotus recurvirostris was named by Du Bus (1868). Its type specimen is IRSNB 3812-M.1887, a skull, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Aporotus recurvirostris type locality, which is in a Serravallian/Tortonian marine horizon in Belgium.
It was recombined as Ziphirostrum recurvirostrum by Vanden Broeck (1874); it was synonymized subjectively with Mioziphius belgicus by Abel (1905).
