Taxonomy
Aporotus dicyrtus was named by Du Bus (1868). Its type specimen is IRSNB 3808-M.541, a partial skull, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Anvers, which is in a Miocene/Pliocene marine horizon in Belgium.
It was recombined as Ziphirostrum dicyrtum by Vanden Broeck (1874).
