Notopithecus adapinus

Taxonomy
Notopithecus adapinus was named by Ameghino (1897). Its type specimen is MACN-A 10822, a maxilla, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Barranca south of Lago Colhue-Huapi, Gran Barranca, which is in a Bartonian terrestrial claystone in the Sarmiento Formation of Argentina. It is the type species of Notopithecus.
