Taxonomy
Concavus crassostricola was named by Zullo (1984) [Lower Miocene (Burdigalian), Middle Miocene (Langhian); Calvert Fm, Maryland]. Its type specimen is 401-2b, Dept Earth Sciences, UNCW, a partial shell (scutum), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Pollocksville railroad bridge, which is in a Miocene marine horizon in North Carlina.
