Tylocephale gilmorei
Taxonomy
Tylocephale gilmorei was named by Maryańska and Osmólska (1974). Its type specimen is ZPAL MgD-I/105, a skull, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Khulsan, Central Cliffs, site 10 [PMPE], which is in a Campanian/Campanian terrestrial sandstone in the Baruungoyot Formation of Mongolia.

T. Maryańska and H. Osmólska 1974 | Cranial roof thickened, highly elevated, the highest point situated far posteriorly. Postorbital and both supraorbitals incorporated into domed part. Infratemporal fenestra very narrow, long and placed nearlyvertically.Orbitelongate, oblique, rising upwards posteriorly. Quadrate nearly vertical. Occipital region narrow, very faintly depressed. Tooth-bearing edge of maxilla straight nearly to the very posterior end. Crowns of maxillary and mandibulary teeth large. Surface of the external bones strongly ornamented, domed part rough. Surface of the jugal at the orbital margin, as well as this of the quadratojugal nearly smooth. |
