Onchiodon labyrinthicus

Taxonomy
Onchiodon labyrinthicus was named by Geinitz (1861). Its type specimen is Staatliches Museum für Mineralogie und Geologie in Dresden, a tooth (one tooth), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Niederhaslich, which is in a Sakmarian lacustrine limestone in the Niederhäslich-Schweinsdorf Formation of Germany. It is the type species of Onchiodon.

It was recombined as Zygosaurus labyrinthicus by Geinitz and Deichmüller (1882).

J. Boy 1990Eminence along lateral side of supratemporal and on the tabular. Furrows of sense lines (german: "Sinneslinien") only present until the early juvenile stage. Supratemporal short, with the beginning of adult stage it is longer than broad. Basipterygoid-joint grow together in late adult stage. Processus cultriformis widened in it's back part. Denticle field on front basal plate and posterior processus cultriformis; distinctive until the early juvenile stage, later reduced. Dentition of jaws during juvenile stage folded up to the tip of the tooth. - Interclavicula variable in outline, often slightly longer than broad. Relation of length of interclavicula to skull-length =0,22-0,40.
