Aristosuchus pusillus
Taxonomy
Poikilopleuron pusillus was named by Owen (1876). Its type specimen is BMNH R.178, a set of postcrania, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Isle of Wight (general), which is in a Barremian/Aptian terrestrial horizon in the United Kingdom. It is the type species of Aristosuchus.
It was recombined as Coelurus pusillus by Nopcsa (1901); it was recombined as Aristosuchus pusillus by Seeley (1887), Lydekker (1888), Newton (1889), Zittel (1890), Woodward and Sherborn (1890), Lydekker (1891), Huene (1923), Huene (1926), Swinton (1936), Kuhn (1939), Steel (1970), Blows (1983), Naish (1999), Naish et al. (2001), Naish (2002), Ruiz-Omeñaca and Canudo (2003), Holtz et al. (2004), Peyer (2006), Naish and Martill (2007), Hu et al. (2016) and Barker et al. (2020).
