Reigechimys simplex
Taxonomy
Reigechimys simplex was named by Sostillo et al. (2014). Its type specimen is GHUNLPam 4634, a mandible, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Bajo Giuliani, which is in a Huayquerian terrestrial siltstone in the Cerro Azul Formation of Argentina.

R. Sostillo et al. 2014 | Enamel design in the occlusal surface of molars more simplified than that of the remaining species of the genus. Juvenile m1−m2 without mesoflexid/fossetid; the figure-eight-shaped occlusal surface of these molars persists to the ontogenetic stage in which Dp4 has a small metafossetid. Lingual tip of the anterior lobe of m1−m2 antero-posteriorly narrower than in the other species of the genus.
