Hesperosaurus
Taxonomy
Hesperosaurus was named by Carpenter et al. (2001). It is not extant. Its type is Hesperosaurus mjosi.
It was synonymized subjectively with Stegosaurus by Maidment et al. (2008), Mateus et al. (2009).
It was assigned to Stegosauria by Chure et al. (2006); to Stegosauridae by Carpenter et al. (2001), Galton and Upchurch (2004), Maidment et al. (2006), Galton (2007), Ulansky (2014), Maidment et al. (2018); and to Stegosaurinae by Sánchez-Fenollosa and Cobos (2025).
It was synonymized subjectively with Stegosaurus by Maidment et al. (2008), Mateus et al. (2009).
