It was reranked as the unranked clade Antliarhinitae by Bouchard et al. (2011).

It was assigned to Apionidae by Crowson (1981); to Brentidae by Lawrence and Newton (1995), Alonso-Zarazaga and Lyal (1999); and to Apioninae by Bouchard et al. (2011).
