Sphindidae was named by Jacquelin du Val (1860). It is extant.
It was assigned to Clavicornia by Crowson (1981); to Cucujoidea by Lawrence and Newton (1995), Bouchard et al. (2011), Robertson et al. (2015), Kirejtshuk (2015), Kirejtshuk et al. (2019) and Li and Cai (2021); and to Nitiduloidea by Cai et al. (2022).
It was assigned to Clavicornia by Crowson (1981); to Cucujoidea by Lawrence and Newton (1995), Bouchard et al. (2011), Robertson et al. (2015), Kirejtshuk (2015), Kirejtshuk et al. (2019) and Li and Cai (2021); and to Nitiduloidea by Cai et al. (2022).
