Helotidae was named by Reitter (1876) [also published by Chapuis, 1876]. It is extant.
It was assigned to Clavicornia by Crowson (1981); to Cucujoidea by Lawrence and Newton (1995) and Robertson et al. (2015); and to Nitiduloidea by Cai et al. (2022) and Li et al. (2023).
