Karumiidae was named by Escalera (1913). It is extant.

It was reranked as the subfamily Karumiinae by Lawrence and Newton (1995), Jin et al. (2013), Kundrata et al. (2021), Cai et al. (2022).

It was assigned to Dascilloidea by Crowson (1981); and to Dascillidae by Lawrence and Newton (1995), Jin et al. (2013), Kundrata et al. (2021), Cai et al. (2022).
