Taxonomy

Blattidae was named by Latreille (1810). It is extant. Its type is Blatta.

It was assigned to Blattacea by Sellards (1904); to Blattodea by Müller (1965); to Blattariae by Zhang (1989) and Wappler (2003); to Blattoidae by Evangelista et al. (2019); and to Blattoidea by Evangelista et al. (2017), Djernæs and Murienne (2022) and Liu et al. (2023).

Synonyms

Latiblatta was named by Hong (2002).

It was considered a nomen nudum by Hong (2002) and Hong (2002); it was replaced with Hongoblatta by Özdikmen (2008).
Latiblatta spinosa was named by Hong (2002). It is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Xilutian coal mine, Fushun amber (late 1970s collection), which is in a Ypresian terrestrial amber in China.

It was considered a nomen nudum by Hong (2002) and Hong (2002); it was recombined as Hongoblatta spinosa by Özdikmen (2008).
