Necromites nestoris was named by Bogachev (1940) [No type specimen number is listed by Bogachev (1940).]. It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Baku, which is in a Calabrian lacustrine horizon in Azerbaijan. It is the type species of Necromites.
