Taxonomy
Hexaprotodon lothagamensis was named by Weston (2000). Its type specimen is KNM-LT 23839, a mandible (mandible with R P/4-M/3 and left P/4-M/2), and it is a 3D body fossil.
It was recombined as Archaeopotamus lothagamensis by Boisserie (2005), Weston and Boisserie (2010).
