Libycosaurus
Taxonomy
Libycosaurus was named by Bonnarelli (1947). It is not extant.
It was synonymized subjectively with Merycopotamus by McKenna and Bell (1997).
It was assigned to Ruminantiamorpha by Spaulding et al. (2009); to Bothriodontinae by Boisserie et al. (2005) and Boisserie et al. (2010); to Anthracotheriidae by Vignaud et al. (2002), Boisserie et al. (2005) and Holroyd et al. (2010); and to Hippopotamoidea by Orliac et al. (2010).
