It was corrected as Anatoidae by Hay (1930).

It was assigned to Chenomorphae by Hay (1902); to Anatiformes by Hay (1930); to Anseriformes by Clarke et al. (2005); and to Anseres by Livezey (1997), Hope (2002), Livezey and Zusi (2007), Cenizo and Agnolín (2010) and Worthy et al. (2017).
