Taxonomy
Vegavis iaai was named by Clarke et al. (2005). Its type specimen is MLP 93-I-3-1, a partial skeleton (disarticulated partial postcranial skeleton), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is VEG9303, Cape Lamb, which is in a Maastrichtian coastal sandstone in the López de Bertodano Formation of Antarctica.
