Ophiura hendleri
Taxonomy
Ophiura hendleri was named by Blake and Aronson (1998). Its type specimen is USNM 490436 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is W 86-03, Seymour Island, which is in a Lutetian lagoonal sandstone in the La Meseta Formation of Antarctica.

Arm dorsal surface arched, sides flat, spines 5, robust, short. Ventral arm plate robust, approximately first five ventral arm plates medially contiguous. Oral shields longer than wide; jaw plates proeminent, weackly flaired; oral papillae truncate. |
