Kokenospira was named by Bassler (1915) [Sepkoski's age data: O Llde O Cara-u Sepkoski's reference number: 797,1116]. It is not extant. Its type is Bucaniella esthona.
It was assigned to Bucaniides by Knight et al. (1960); to Bucaniinae by Koken and Perner (1925), Wahlman (1992); to Cyrtolitidae by Horný (1997); and to Bellerophontida by Sepkoski (2002).
