Taxonomy
Kokenospira (Tritonophon) was named by Öpik (1953) [Sepkoski's age data: S Ldov-l D Eife Sepkoski's reference number: 362]. Its type is Nylanderina goldringae.

It was reranked as Tritonophon by Peel (1974), Wahlman (1992), Sepkoski (2002), Ebbestad et al. (2008).

It was assigned to Kokenospira by Öpik (1953); to Bellerophontida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Plectonotinae by Peel (1974), Wahlman (1992), Ebbestad et al. (2008).

J. O. R. Ebbestad et al. 2008Bellerophontid with 3–4 whorls bearing a strongly trilobed median dorsal lobe, the selenizone occupying the full width of the upper surface of the central lobe. Spiral ornamentation on entire shell common, but may be lacking in some species.
