Forbesiaster wrighti was named by de Loriol (1909). It is not extant. Its type specimen is Geological Museum, Cairo, n°785. It is the type species of Forbesiaster.

P. de Loriol 1909Arms relatively short, wide at base, rounded at tip. Interradial arc deep, in blunt angle. Marginals twice as wide as long, with widely spaced pits for granules and short spines around edge. Abactinal ossicles irregular, rounded or tumid, largest plates with granules and round conical spines. Large, bivalve pedicellariae on most superomarginals. Adambulacral plates squared, with two slender spines.
