Taxonomy

Azibius was named by Sudre (1975). Its type is Azibius trerki.

It was assigned to Paromomyiformes by Sudre (1975); to Azibiinae by Sudre (1979); and to Azibiidae by Tabuce et al. (2004), Tabuce et al. (2009).

A. trerki (syn. Tabelia hammadae, Dralestes hammadaensis) (type species)

Synonyms

Tabelia was named by Godinot and Mahboubi (1994). It is not extant. It was considered monophyletic by Godinot and Mahboubi (1994).

It was synonymized subjectively with Azibius by Tabuce et al. (2009).

It was assigned to Simiiformes by Godinot and Mahboubi (1994); and to Anthropoidea by Gunnell and Miller (2001).
Dralestes was named by Tabuce et al. (2004). It is not extant.

It was synonymized subjectively with Azibius by Tabuce et al. (2009).
