Taxonomy
Caviziphius altirostris was named by Bianucci and Post (2005) [Naturalis, National Museum of Natural History, Leiden, The Netherlands]. Its type specimen is ST. 447230, a skull, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Blauwhofstraat clay pit, which is in a Miocene/Miocene marine conglomerate in Belgium.
