Taxonomy
Eucyclus was named by Eudes-Deslongchamps (1860) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Carn T Ol-l Sepkoski's reference number: 797,1066]. It is the type genus of Eucyclidae.

It was synonymized subjectively with Amberleya by Cox (1928); it was reranked as Amberleya (Eucyclus) by Kase (1984).

It was assigned to Amberleya by Kase (1984); to Archaeogastropoda by Sepkoski (2002); and to Eucyclidae by Koken (1896), Bouchet et al. (2005), Bandel (2010), Ferrari et al. (2014).
