Anomalocardia hendriana was named by Mansfield (1939) [TYPE LOCALITY: Station# 14081, left bank of Caloosahatchee River, about 3 miles below Fort Denaud, Hendry Co., Florida; Fort Thompson Fm (Pleistocene).]. Its type specimen is USNM 497980 and is not a trace fossil.
