Asiomomys was named by Wang and Li (1990). Its type is Asiomomys changbaicus.
It was assigned to Washakiini by Beard and Wang (1991); to Omomyinae by Wang and Li (1990) and Gunnell and Miller (2001); and to Utahiini by Gunnell and Rose (2002).
