Megaderma franconica was named by Ziegler (1993). It is not extant. Its type specimen is BSP. 1937 II 10357, Mandible dex. p4-m2, a mandible. Its type locality is Wintershof-West, which is in a MN 3 fissure fill horizon in Germany.
