Diagnosis
ReferenceDiagnosis
P. Mein and E. Martín-Suárez 1993Galerix of smaller size than G. socialis. Dental formula 3143/2143: Contrary to the forms from the Middle Miocene, it has only two incisors in the mandible (due to the loss of the i3). p1 and p2 have only one root (except for the Vallesian populations in which the p2 still conserves two roots). The p3 is longer than the p2. In m1 and m2 te posterior cingulum, short and low, does not reach the occlusal surface. P4 has a sigmoidal anterior border, and a low parastyle. Upper molars with a tendency to form a posthypocrista, that reaches the posterior border of the tooth. Upper molars with their posterior cingulum very much reduced, especially in the M3.
