Taxonomy
Mioechinus tobieni was named by Engesser (1980). It is not extant. Its type specimen is NMB Esk 1, a maxilla (dext. with C-M1). Its type locality is Yeni-Eskihisar, which is in a MN 7 + 8 terrestrial horizon in Türkiye.

| B. Engesser 1980 | Kleiner Erinaceine mit nur mässig entwickeltem I1, dessen Würzel nach hinten bis zum I3 geht. Der wenig molarisierte, relative kleine P4 liegt vor dem Vorderrand der Oribtalgrube und das Foramen lacrymale ausserhalb derselben. Das Foramen lacrymale wird nach vorn durch eine knöcherne Lamelle begrenzt. Der Unterrand der Orbitalgrube ist ohne prominente Kante. P3 wenig reduziert mit ausladendem Talon und kräftigem Innenhügel. I3 und P3 zweiwurzelig. C sup. grösser und höher als I3 und P2. M1 und M2 mit deutlichem Metaconulus. Hypoconus von M1 und M2 mit Trigonum verbundern. M1 mit kräftigem Lingualcingulum. M3 einwurzelig. m1 mit kräftigem Labialcingulum. |
