Taxonomy
Talpa tomerdingensis was named by Tobien (1939). Its type specimen is SMNS unnumbered, a limb element (Humerus dex.), and it is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Geotrypus tomerdingensis by Hutchison (1974).
